2019 State Legislation

SB 33, Senator Skinner (D-Berkeley) Solid waste: reduction and recycling – Introduced 12/3/18.

This bill would state that the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would address the collapse of the foreign recycling markets by reducing solid waste generation, encouraging transition to compostable or recyclable materials, and fostering domestic recycling markets.

SB 54, Senator Allen (D-Los Angeles) Single-use plastic waste: reduction – Introduced 12/11/18.

This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would significantly reduce the amount of single-use plastic waste entering California’s waste stream, polluting our oceans, littering our local communities and beaches, and costing local governments millions of dollars in cleanup costs.

 

AB 187, Assembly Member Garcia (D-Cerritos) Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act: budget – Introduced 1/10/19.

The Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act, administered by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, authorizes a mattress recycling organization to be established by a qualified industry association to develop, implement, and administer a mattress recycling program, including the development of a state plan, for recycling used mattresses in the state that includes specified goals and elements.
