Assembly Select Committee on Waste Reduction and Recycling in 21st Century California Hearing on Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) – 11/4/2015
The Select Committee held a hearing in Palo Alto and heard from diverse stakeholders on efforts to manage HHW, EPR efforts at the state and local level, and current challenges and future opportunities. The hearing agenda included presentations from Debbie Raphael with San Francisco Environment (pictured below), Waymond Wong with San Mateo County, Kristina Miller with Tehama County, Carl Smith with Call2Recycle, Michael Gross with Greenwaste, and more. CalRecycle Educational Briefing on EPR and Waste Recycling Issues
CPSC partnered with staff from CalRecycle to provide an educational briefing on EPR and other waste and recycling issues to legislative staff in Sacramento. We also presented Assembly Speaker John Pérez with a Legislative Leadership Award for authoring the carpet stewardship bill in 2010. The pilot carpet stewardship programs in rural areas are experiencing great success and programs in ten rural counties.
